The overall consistency of basket making techniques throughout time in ancient Egypt lends itself well to the study of how baskets were produced (Wendrich, 1999; 3). The greatest changes appear in the materials used and the tools used to produce the baskets (Wendrich, 1999; 3). Time, however, appears to be the biggest agent of change when it comes to the development of basketry.
The following sections are broken down by time period and stretch from the Neolithic period through the Roman period. Each section details a certain number of coiled baskets in an attempt to map the changes of the coiled basketry process through time.
